post # 2 oon historical context

(13) ushistory.org independence hall association coyright2008 http//www.ushistory.org/us/The site starts quite popular quotes from the 1960’s. (One or two of them were also in the textbook.) The quotes were: “make love not war. don’t trust any one over 30. Turn on turn in and drop out I am a human being - Please do not fold bend spindlier or mutilate. The site explained how people known as hippie’s changes the way they lived from the way their parents lived. The site said hippies “broke” their parents values. The site was good at talking about the sixties. A lot f o the information is also in the textbook we looked in fro-historical context. The bad thing is it doesn’t tell you whether the mushrooms are the food or something else. It is the first site to mention their new astrological beliefs and new religions. The site also says they thought casually of sex they rejected birth control and experimented with drugs. There was a down side to experimenting with drugs and pregnancies. It says they tested with mushrooms.

another post for my andy warhollnhd project

(10)Kathleen Krull Lives of the Artists Masterpieces, messes (and What their Neighbors Thought.) Harcourt Brace and Company San diego1995.
This book had many artists. I like when books have multiple artists in one book. The book had a funny caricature of Andy Warhol. Around him are cats, a soup can, paint, a clock, and a cake. These objects that symbolize him. The book talked about these objects. This book had some funny facts that were added bonuses. For example, he had 175 cookie jars and 400 wigs. I liked that this book talked about his food habits. For example, sometime he ate junk food; such as candy, pastries and a whole cake. Other times he ate bean sandwiches or vegetable puree. It talked about his looks and his odd style for example wore a jeweled and feathered wig to his first art show. He wore high-heeled boots and as he got older his sunglasses got bigger. It talked about how at first his living space was terrible. Later on he had a penthouse. This was helpful because it talked about his style and look. I think that is very important to my display board.

This site give s the background information of the time period Andy Warhol was alive. Which is what it’s supposed to do. The site talked about all the different right movement going on; for example, blacks got right to be treated equally and vote. Women then protested to get their rights. Then Mexicans did the same. I like that t his has primary sources I need primary sources. They are important to the project. Gays and lesbians got their rights and that was very important to the time period.

He went to Holmes elementary school and Scheneley high school. The article talked about his mom. For example, she won an award. One fact was he traveled Asia and Europe. The site had lots if dates; it goes in to great specifics. Andy Warhol Knew famous people; he knew Truman capote and Jackie Kennedy.

(8)Andy Warhol Quotes Brainy quotes.com copyright2008: http//www.brainyquote.com/quotes/authors/andy Warhol.html
This site was a really good site to use if someone needs a quote from Andy Warhol. (Or any one else.) There was a wide selection of quotes it is useful to have a wide arrangement of quotes. There were some really funny quotes and some of his typical quotes. I found it helpful to have some of his quotes in my paper. They were good examples of what I was talking about.

(9) I Shot Andy Warhol, dir Mary Harron. Orion pictures 1996
The movie gave a lot of background on Valerie solanis’s life. It showed that she went to a mental hospital after she shot Andy. It showed how badly Valerie Solanis shot Andy Warhol. I found out She had a horrible life. She was always asking for money because she didn’t have enough. She was an orphan. The movie talked about how She gave great detail to why she shot Andy. She wanted to have Andy film her play but he didn’t. It showed Andy’s factory, (which was a good extra to see what it really looked like.) It was confusing how the movie was filmed, but that showed how Andy filmed/ did his movies.
